WELCOME TO FREIGHT BROKERING & FREIGHT FORWARDING

Hello my name is Tariq Robinson, i am the owner and founder of Naomi Jeanette Robinson Trucking & Naomi Jeanette Robinson Logistics Group. 


The plan is for all my siblings to have stock in the business for a good foundation. So my wife decided to make all the kids agents for our company and in the near future give them the brokering side of the business and we do trucking.

Freight Broker vs. Freight Agent: What is the Difference?

Difference between a Freight Broker and Freight Agent

difference in freight broker and freight agentAt the top level the difference between a freight broker and a freight agent is a freight agent is an individual or group of individuals that functions as an independent contractor under a freight broker’s operating license to move freight for its customers, while the freight broker moves freight under its own FMCSA operating authority.  

A freight agent is sometimes called a sales agent because they often sell for the freight broker they represent versus sell and operate the business, although they could choose to sell and operate the customers they acquire.


There are additional nuances that come from a freight agent / freight brokerage relationship that we’ll describe in greater detail next.

  9. $40 is the take for the freight broker.
  10. Quite often there is a limit to what a freight agent can be paid on its commission based on a minimum accepted gross margin percentage and / or a fixed dollar gross margin amount.
  11. A freight broker has a more consistent look and feel across its offices versus freight agents under a broker.
  12. So, while there will be some similarity in the services offered by a freight agent there are cultural differences because the freight agent is an independent contractor and has their own culture.
  13. While the freight agent has its own culture it does bring with it the reputation of the freight broker it is representing.
  14. Freight agents are typically small businesses that operate out of their homes, while a freight broker is most often a much larger entity.
  15. A freight agent cannot pursue any and all shippers.  
  16. There is a clearance process where the freight agent has to check with the freight brokerage it represents that the potential customer they are working with is not already a customer of the freight broker or another agent of the freight broker.

There are numerous trailers that can carry Heavy Equipment and Specialized Cargo. However, We used the following trailers if you have the appropriate axles and spacing. 

For Example. Most Trailers has to have a kingpin distance of 36' with a tandem axle Tractor and Trailer is 66,000 lbs from drive axles to  Trailer Tandem Axle.

  •  Mechanical RGN - Most loads are charge by the weight. Percentage of the weight unless permits are required or driving restrictions. Then we charge by the hour.

Air Freight (Shipping)

Varies

Most Long Range Cargo Jet can travel 12,000 miles in 24 hours. However, it is the most expensive way to ship your product. Most flights that travel 12,000 miles has a $168,000.00 operating expense.

We try to stick with Fedex, UPS and Virgin Air Cargo. 

Sea Containers (Shipping)

Varies

This is the best choice to ship abroad if you have a large quantity or weight. The prices goes by the sized of the shipment. The tighter the crate less money you pay. The rates are pending rates at the port

Intermodal (Shipping)

Varies

When you have abundant freight and contracts that need more from you. The rail is the best way to move the freight. However, you need the rates to pay drivers to pick up from rail yard and not forget take to rail yard. Your rates has to be added to CSX. 

Take alot of planning to ship by rail. Especially if you are short on drivers

Functions of logistics

Transportation and warehousing are the two major functions of logistics.

Transportation management focuses on planning, optimizing and executing the use of vehicles to move goods between warehouses, retail locations and customers. The transportation is multimodal and can include ocean, air, rail and roads.

Carrier management is an important aspect since the price, availability and capacity of transportation carriers can vary widely.

Logistics companies typically use transportation management system (TMS) software to help meet the demands of transport-related logistics. There are also niche applications, such as yard 

management systems.


Warehousing, or warehouse management, includes such functions as inventory management and order fulfillment. It also involves managing warehouse infrastructure and processes -- for example, in a fulfillment center, where orders for goods are received, processed and fulfilled (shipped to the customer). Most companies use warehouse management system (WMS) software to manage the flow and storage of goods and track inventory. Most vendors of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software offer TMS and WMS modules, as well as more specialized components for inventory management and other logistics functions.


Customs management, or global trade management, is often considered part of logistics since the paperwork to show compliance with government regulations must often be processed where goods cross national boarders or enter shipping ports.


Artificial intelligence (AI) and driverless vehicle technology will play important parts in how logistics operates in the future. Some logistics providers already use AI to better track packages and predict transport-related problems in the supply chain.

Meanwhile, autonomous vehicles, such as driverless forklifts, delivery trucks and drones, are likely to become more commonplace in warehouses, in warehouse yards and on highways.

Difference between logistics and supply chain management

Logistics management is an important component of supply chain management (SCM). While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, logistics focuses on moving products and materials as efficiently as possible. In contrast, SCM encompasses a much broader range of supply chain planning (SCP) activities, such as demand planning and sales and operations planning (S&OP), and supply chain execution (SCE), including strategic sourcing and transportation management.

What is a Freight Broker, or a Freight forwader. What is The Process

The process is about how items are shipped. The bare essentials never change to operate the industry, It is the software to make the bare essential in the industry more productive. In that being said. The brokering agent can be home grown or works for a company. The brokering agent assures the shipping and receiving company, that it will reduce the stress of how to meet your deadline of manufactured, frozen, personal or commercial goods to its proper destination 


The brokering agent looks for things to shipped, the agent advertise to manufacturing companies how, they can improve the shipping and receiving. In doing so, by making broker packet offering their sales and services with location of operation. Some contracts required hired help such as, 

  • CSX,Inc. for railroad usage
  • Fedex for overnight shipping
  • Maersk, Inc. waterway shipping
  • Owner Operators door to door shipping

The only backlash for using one of the means of transportation. You have to broker the load more than once. If the commodity is $100,000.00 and my percentage is 12.5% that comes out to $12,500.00 for the job. If i pay 75% of gross commodity. That is $9,375.00 going to the delivering carrier. If i hire a driver to take to Rocky Mount, NC Intermodal facility. I have to pay him a rate to move my shipment.  Then i have to pay another fee for Delivery Carrier to pick up from Railyard to destination.

A big contract as of Target requires you to have hands in all distribution centers and coverage of stores. I will need to have help in obtaining this contract. I need drivers in North Carolina and the location of the Railyard to make deliveries. The opportunity cost of me succeeding is slim. Due to logistics problems, fuel rates, etc. i can afford ti do everything they asked of me. With big contracts it is best to have company drivers to help you execute the agreement 



The forwarder accepts things to ship. A moving company is a form of a Freight Forwarder. A customer looks to ship goods oversea, across country. This requires additional packing and wrapping to pass thru US Customs. The Shipping Prep is more tedious than brokering. There is more overhead cost. For example Lumber for crate building, Steel Band for crate securement. Requires more staff personnel than brokering. Usually brokering is more busy on a normal typical day. Most Brokers are a 1-person gang. In freight forwarding requires a team to finish the agreement


If you was the parent of a child selling lemonade and that stand produce $100,000.00 the first quarter. Now you are offered a distribution deal of $100,000.00 per week, You will need freight brokering department. We at N.J.R. Logistics Group will be planning an dedicated routes and any other formation.  We will set a price on the delivery expense. Once we both agree on price. We give certain amount of hours or days to keep a good reationship with our clients. However, there are set backs in this business. Will the delivering carrier be professional, Can i handle one more driver leased on too company.


My plan was to present te business marketing with my kids on the home page. I wanted to show union and toughness to stand up and admit your faults and move on. Wishing all peace love and happiness. That wasn't the image my wives wanted to expose to the world. The wives wanted to show the kids on a hard foundation. This foundation is built on stones and not clay. After them words and eyes of i am not giving in and it's going to be this way. That's is my baby as well. 


I fell back. However i  still suggested to look at it like this.  All the departments listed below. Why not allow someone to run the division and learn the business entirely to fill in any spot if needed to achieve a good relationship with our clients. That is why i pay each of you $175,000.00 a year to multi task and burn each other thoughts to make a good law for employees and clients.. There response was you can't drive the truck and do office work at the same time.. You let us propose ideas and you burn it.  You be slow to speak about what goes on in the office. I didn't interfere with their operations ever since. They handle problems together and didn't need a conference call with me.

We try to stick with Fedex, UPS and Virgin Air Cargo.

This is the best choice to ship abroad if you have a large quantity or weight. The prices goes by the sized of the shipment. The tighter the crate less money you pay. The rates are pending rates at the port

Intermodal (Shipping)

Our Logistics Services Consist of Freight Forwarding, Warehousing, Brokering & Dispatching to Meet The Consumer Needs From Point of Origin to Point of Consumption in a Timely Cost Effective  Manner. 


In our North Carolina warehouse facility we do Shipment in Transit (SIT), Cross Dock and Trans Load shipping containers to help the supply chain of our clients. We break down large shipments to ship out the next day or storage inside our state of the art warehouse for a short time. Then we dispatch Owner Operators to our warehouse to deliver goods. 


We work out of Ports from New York * New Jersey Ports to Northern Florida. Sea Ports, Airports and Rail Yards


We deliver to clients within 500 miles radius to our North Carolina Warehouse Facility
